We curate & trade designart!

Victor Hunt Designart Dealer’s services focus on the search for, issue and sale of limited editions by the most remarkable emerging designers, operating as a platform for development supported by an international exhibition program. Since the gallery’s inception in 2008, the collection has grown throughout all object typologies, representing a carefully curated collection of cutting-edge contemporary design.

We understand “designart” as the gray zone between industrial design, crafts, architecture, sculpture, conceptual art, installation, and many other arts, but applied to or at least suggesting objects of use— developed and manufactured with the utmost care.

Tomás Alonso, lines & waves

Tomás Alonso,
lines & waves

Lines & Waves marble tables are the result of an exploration of pattern and stack-ability. Machine-milled grooves cut into the top and bottom surfaces of single marble blocks result in a pattern that is both decorative and functional. The pattern is crucial to the furniture’s design, as it allows for flexibility and play when interlocking the single blocks. At the same time, the wave pattern lends the very heavy blocks of marble a new delicacy and tactility. Starting from the idea of a system the building elements are basic geometrical shapes derived from cylinders and rectangles made from different types of marble. The pieces are tactile; smoothly polished. Once stacked, the compositions take on the function of furniture, anything from low to high tables, consoles or dining tables. As a study of rare materials, the collection provides an exceptional insight into marble’s wide natural diversity. The design of the lines & waves collection does not include any unnecessary elements. The form gives structural strength and stackability. The sterling silver sets are produces by hand by Wiener Silber Manufactur. The water set explores further the properties of the inter locking corrugated pattern developed for the silver tea set in combination with crystal glass, hand cut by Lobmeyr.
